The first holy site and community that Studion Ministries has committed itself to helping is St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai, Egypt and the local Bedouin community interdependent with it. To Learn About our Ongoing Publishing and Bedouin Embroidery Projects on Behalf of St. Catherine's Monastery and Surrounding Bedouin Community:
St. Catherine's Monastery has been closed to the public since early March 2020 due to the coronavirus. As a result, the income and donations it would normally receive through pilgrims has ceased. St. Catherine's Monastery is a precious heritage entrusted to all of us, and needs our collective help to keep it flourishing, as well as the local community dependent on it, most especially during these very difficult times.
From Archbishop Damianos of Sinai: "The Holy Monastery of Sinai, also called St. Catherine’s Monastery in the mountainous and arid, southern region of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, is facing many financial difficulties, especially during this current period of the Coronavirus. Every help to the Monastery is crucial and indispensable, more than ever, for its survival and its uninterrupted spiritual, cultural and charitable mission."
